Francisco and Jacinta were siblings from a village near Fatima, Portugal. They were illiterate. Together with their cousin Lúcia they witnessed the apparition of an angel in 1916 while herding their sheep. On 13 May 1917 they saw a lady, ‘brighter than the sun’, who invited them to pray the rosary, to do penance and pray for the conversion of sinners, as well as for peace. She introduced herself as ‘Our Lady of the Rosary.’ For six months Mary appeared on the 13th of the month. At the final apparition on 13 October many people saw the sun move in a miraculous way. Soon, people praying to Our Lady of Fatima were healed in ways that science could not explain. Lucia became a religious sister and lived to old age, but Francisco and Jacinta died young from influenza. Their task on earth was complete, and they pray for us in heaven. They are buried in the sanctuary that was erected at the place of the apparitions in Fátima. Valentine is very well known as a saint, but we know little about the man. He did really exist, for archaeologists found an early Roman catacomb and an ancient church dedicated to him. It is also sure that he was martyred for his faith at the Via Flaminia in Rome on 14 February in the third century. In fact, that is enough to connect him to romantic love, of which he is the patron saint: is it not the summit of romance to offer your life for the one you love? Valentine did exactly that: out of love for Jesus he was ready to give up everything, even his own life! 💘 Pray for us! #OnlineSaints #santoscatolicos #catholicsaints #santidad #santos #sanvalentin #saintvalentine #dzieńzakochanych #walentynki #świętywalenty #swietywalenty

Agnes was a beautiful girl from a wealthy noble family in Rome, Italy. At a young age, she promised herself to Jesus with all her body. About her life, not much can be said with certainty, but legend comes to our help. At the age of thirteen, she had a range of high-ranked young suitors. As she continued to refuse their attentions, they denounced her as a Christian, which was a crime at the time. The Prefect of Rome who investigated her case also made some advances, but she said: ‘I am already the spouse of a Lover much more noble and powerful than you.’ Enraged, he condemned her to be dragged naked through the streets of Rome into a brothel. She was thrown into a fire, but the flames were extinguished after her prayer. Finally, she was killed with a sword. Usually, she is depicted with a lamb, a sign of her purity. Saint Agnes, pray for us! #SaintOfTheDay #SaintAgnes #Feastday
