Biography
I was born in 1551 in Lisbon, Portugal. When I was young I decided to become a priest. In 1570, at the age of 19, I was a Jesuit novice and accompanied father Inácio de Azevedo on his misson to bring the Gospel to Brazil. But near the Canary Islands our ship was attacked by French Calvinist pirate ships. The pirates killed us in horrendous ways.
