Saint Christopher

I was born in the ancient Near East. It is known that I was helped by a hermit, I was enlightened to follow Christ and build a hut along the banks of a river. I felt called to stay there to serve people by carrying them over the river. One day, a small child approached me and wanted to cross the river safely. I took him on my shoulders, but as I was going through the river, the child grew heavier. He began to weigh me down. As I reached the banks of the river, exhausted, I realised I had carried The Child Jesus across, while he was carrying the weight of the world. I continued my mission and died later as a martyr.
