Biography

I was born in 1739 in the State of Saõ Paolo, in Brazil. My family was very religious and had a good social position. My father worked in economics and was a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis. I attended a Jesuit seminary, but then discerned that God called me to become a Franciscan friar. I became a priest at the age of 23. In Saõ Paolo I served as preacher, confessor and porter. Together with a sister, I founded a new community for girls. After her death, I became responsible for the community. I helped the sisters built a convent and a church. I also founded St Clare Friary in the city Sorocaba. The last days of my life I spent in the congregation which I helped to found. I died in 1822.
