Saint Valentine of Rome

I was born in Italy and died as a martyr in Rome. Legend tells the remainder of my life. I may have been a priest and a bishop, or also a doctor. It is said that I helped people when they were sick and taught the Christian community how to follow Jesus. However, it was dangerous to become a Christian at that time. Because I was a well-known leader of the Church, I was arrested. Being a prisoner did not lead me away from my faith. On the contrary: I wrote letters of encouragement to other Christians, reminding them of the great love of Jesus for them. I was brought to death for my faith.
